KREENO Consortium Pays Tribute to President Muhammadu Buhari, Renews Fight Against Corruption in Nigeria
Former President Muhammadu Buhari,

The Board and Management of KREENO Consortium join millions of Nigerians, Africans, and the international community to mourn the passing of His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR), former Head of State and twice-elected President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, who died peacefully in London at the age of 82. President Buhari was more than a statesman. He was a symbol of discipline, integrity, and the resilient Nigerian spirit. He walked the corridors of power not merely to occupy space, but to challenge corruption, restore trust in public service, and revive a dream of national dignity rooted in probity.

At KREENO Consortium, whose work centres on financial justice, integrity in business, private investigation, integrity borrowings, ethical governance, and anti-corruption enforcement, we remember President Buhari as a torchbearer for integrity, a man who inspired a generation to believe that “if Nigeria does not kill corruption, corruption will kill Nigeria.” The Board of KREENO Consortium recognizes the late President as a defining figure in Nigeria’s anti-corruption history, whose legacy calls all citizens, government, and private sector alike to a higher moral standard. We reaffirm our unwavering commitment to his vision of a Nigeria where justice prevails and where financial fraud, money laundering, unethical borrowings, and economic sabotage are rendered obsolete by the power of collective accountability.

In his honour, the Board pledges to intensify our efforts in building corporate governance structures that block leakages and dismantle impunity, strengthen collaboration with regulators, civil society, and law enforcement to root out corruption across all economic sectors, and train and deploy a new generation of ethical leaders, private investigators, and compliance professionals across Africa. His death is not an end but a call, a divine reminder that no one lives forever, but what we build in truth and ethical economic justice will outlive us all.

President Buhari’s words, though often few, were deeply weighted with conviction. Some of the statements that shaped a national narrative include: “I belong to everybody, and I belong to nobody,” “Corruption is the greatest form of human rights violation,” “We must change our ways of doing things or we will be shortchanged again,” “The change we seek begins with us,” “Security and the economy will be the focus of my government,” “We have no other country but Nigeria. We must stay here and salvage it together,” and “In a fight against corruption, there are no sacred cows.” this is where Coalition Against Financial Fraud Initiative In Africa (CAFFIA) Global is pushing ahead to advocate in this regard.

President Buhari’s dream of a just and ethical Nigeria is not merely a political ambition; it is a moral obligation. At KREENO Consortium, we believe the way forward includes institutionalising transparency in both public and private sectors, empowering whistleblowers and protecting ethical governance actors like KREENO and CAFFIA, reforming procurement systems, digitalising government transactions, and enforcing compliance at all levels, educating the youth on integrity in business values, character, and the economic cost of corruption, finanicial fraud, and integrating biblical and indigenous ethical frameworks in building sustainable business practices.

His Excellency may have taken his final bow on the stage of history, but his echo remains in every courtroom where justice is served, every budget made honest, and every young Nigerian who chooses principle over profit. We mourn his passing but celebrate his convictions. We lower our flags but raise the banner of truth. We bid farewell not just to a man but to an era that challenged Nigeria to be better. May the Almighty God grant his soul peaceful rest. May Nigeria arise on the strength of this legacy he left behind.

To truly immortalise the legacy of former President Muhammadu Buhari, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should institutionalise a National Anti-Corruption Leadership Centre in Buhari’s name: an enduring think-tank and training institute for ethical governance, economic justice, and financial crime prevention in partnership with CAFFIA Global. This centre should serve as a national hub for integrity in business culture, leadership, policy reform, and youth mentorship, ensuring that Buhari’s lifelong fight against corruption becomes a living curriculum for generations to come. By embedding Buhari’s values into national development policy, educational curriculum, civic education, and legal frameworks, President Tinubu would not only honour his predecessor but also anchor Nigeria’s future on the pillars of transparency, discipline, and national accountability.

KREENO Consortium, in partnership with the Coalition Against Financial Fraud Initiative in Africa (CAFFIA), stands ready to collaborate with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by launching nationwide anti-corruption awareness and ethical leadership programs across tertiary institutions in Nigeria. Through campus-based initiatives, integrity clubs, investigative journalism training, and student-led compliance simulations, KREENO and CAFFIA will work to instill a culture of integrity in business, economic justice, accountability from the classroom to the boardroom. This strategic partnership will ensure that the next generation of leaders is equipped not only with academic knowledge but with the moral courage to resist corruption and uphold the values that the late President Muhammadu Buhari lived and died for.
