History was made on October 3, 2025, as Nigeria’s academic landscape witnessed a transformative milestone with the conferment of Doctor of Practice and Professor of Practice degrees on a select group of exceptional industry leaders by The Omniversity Imperial College, Missouri, USA. The event, held at the prestigious De Rembrandt Hotel and Suites, Ikeja, Lagos, marked a turning point in Africa’s educational evolution, setting a new paradigm for recognizing competence and experiential learning as vital pillars of modern academia.
The trailblazing ceremony, themed “Recognizing Competence: Practice-Based Qualifications, Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL), Skill Recognition (SR) and ISO-Certified Credentials (ICC) as Tools for African and Economic Revamp,” brought together thought leaders, scholars, and innovators from across Africa.
In his welcome address, Professor Tokunbo Akeredolu-Ale, President and Chairman, Board of Trustees of The Omniversity, emphasized the university’s vision of bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application. As a professor of Artificial Intelligence–powered marketing communications, leadership, organization, and risk management, he underscored that the institution stands as a crucible where knowledge meets experience to produce leaders equipped for continental transformation.
“Education must go beyond the classroom,” Prof. Akeredolu-Ale declared. “It must reflect in the quality of life, national productivity, and the human development index of a people. Omniversity’s mission is to validate competence, honor proven skill, and elevate practitioners who demonstrate mastery through results.”
At the heart of this event was Dr. Prisca Ndu, the dynamic Director of Strategic Partnerships and New Business at Kreeno Consortium, and Executive Vice Chairman of INDECO who was conferred with the distinguished title of Professor of Practice in Management and Finance. Her conferment symbolizes a recognition of years of sterling leadership, innovative enterprise strategy, and measurable impact in Nigeria’s corporate and financial sectors.
Dr. Ndu’s work at INDECO and Kreeno Consortium and has consistently merged strategic foresight with human-centered finance, redefining how African organizations approach debt recovery, private investigation, and governance with integrity as well as the Infrastructure development. Her elevation to Professor of Practice, therefore, reflects not just academic merit but lived expertise, practical intelligence, and industry influence, hallmarks of Omniversity’s philosophy.
The Omniversity’s Professor of Practice model, rooted in international educational standards, values demonstrable competence and lifelong learning over traditional classroom routes. It celebrates professionals who, through innovation, research, and sustainable leadership, have shaped sectors and impacted societies.
Other eminent awardees of the day included Dr. (now Prof.) Francis Toromade (professor of Practice in Strategic Management), Dr. Anthony Abiola Allen (Forensic Criminology and Investigation), Dr. Happiness Ndidi Obioha (Cybersecurity), Mr. Ladi Akeredolu-Ale (Broadcast Journalism), Celestine Achi (AI-Powered Public Relations), Samson Sokoya (Integrated Marketing Communications), Ogunnaike Adedayo (Security Administration and Management), Adedamola Olubode (Environmental Management and Water Innovation), Jerome Obada (AI, Data Science, and Strategic IT Management), and Daisy Ibalafa Jaja (Global Business Leadership and Decision Making).
Each recipient underwent a rigorous assessment conducted by the Accreditation Committee, which evaluated their professional competence, documented achievements, and quality assurance benchmarks in line with global frameworks for experiential learning validation.
